At Edith Kerrison Nursery School and Children’s Centre, we place a high value on learning and understand that children learn best when they are healthy and happy. We believe that healthy bodies and healthy minds are achieved by teaching children how to eat healthily, exercise regularly, and develop a sense of well-being, confidence, and self-esteem. By doing so, we aim to provide them with the best possible chance of succeeding academically and socially.
We recently hosted a Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Event, where our families were invited to participate in a variety of enjoyable activities. In the Nature Garden, we planted using recyclable materials, and on the tarmac, we had a lively football coaching session with Frank. Families also received a complimentary toothbrushing kit and had the opportunity to practice proper teeth-brushing techniques. Additionally, we engaged in activities aimed at developing muscles and early writing skills, such as working with play dough and participating in a ‘Dance-Write’ session. We also practised sorting healthy and unhealthy foods and made a delicious fruit salad.
The event concluded with a delightful circle time in the garden, and the smiles on everyone’s faces reflected the happiness and healthiness of our families. We extend our gratitude to all the incredible families who participated and supported their children during the event. We hope you had a fantastic day.
